Forum for Adults

Recently, The Canadian Don't Do Drugs Society, together with the Outreach Committee, staged a Community Forum at Christ Church pertaining to "Kids and Drugs".

Reverend Canon Tim Elliott, Sarah, Constable Mahoney and Dr. Chamberlain

Reverend Canon Tim Elliott of Christ Church Deer Park chaired the evening with guest speakers Rob O'Reilly, Executive Director of The Canadian Don't Do Drugs Society, Dr. Clive Chamberlain, Chief Psychiatrist of the Addiction Research Foundation, Constable Frank Mahoney, Toronto Police (53 Division), Sarah from Cocaine Anonymous and George from Alcoholics Anonymous. The participants addressed topics pertaining to their area of expertise or experience.

The attendance was light but those attending felt the evening was very informative.

All schools in the area were contacted and asked to send a student representative. Prior to the event various media, particularly CHUM Radio, promoted the event to attract area parents to attend.

The topic was approached from various angles and those attending were informed of the tragedy of adolescent and teenage substance abuse.

The Society wishes to thank everyone involved in both staging and attending the event. Individuals wishing to either provide financial assistance to our Society or to inquire regarding further information of upcoming events - can do so by contacting me at (416) 923-3779.
